Our Nation’s cherished Nisto Awasisak Memorial School is operated by the Miscigwâcagâsihk Education Authority, serving the students and families of Cumberland House Cree Nation. Our school is built on the foundation of nêhinaw mâmitohnênîcikan, the Cree worldview that guides all aspects of our education system.
We are committed to providing an education that honours our language, traditions, and values while preparing our students for success in their communities and the wider world. Our approach to education is rooted in wahkohtowin—the belief that all things are related and connected—and we recognize our responsibility to live in a good way.
Through mamawi-atoskewin (working together), we create a learning environment that nurtures the whole child: academically, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. néhinaw language and land-based learning are at the core of everything we do.
